The Sweetwaters Spring Olympics 2010 - photos and times

And so it begins...

10 LAP RACE

Ol is now so super fast the camera can't keep up with him. ;-)

Note the home made wands. Like Zola Budd ran with bare feet, so Pip runs with wand(s).

A more contemplative look.

The Sweetwater Spring Olympics 2010

In our desire to combat Spring still not being here, we've devised a few ways of filling our days. Our current favourite is competing in our very own family Olympics. I'm not sure what the Olympic would say about the 'sports' involved but so what?

PB and WRs are being broken minute by minute and competition is fierce. We are currently in the preliminary rounds and surging towards the medal rounds with all eyes on the favourite event: the 10 lap race.

Competitors
Oliver George Sweetman
Fred (Pip) Robert Sweetman
Emma (Mama) Drinkwater - who is also official judge. No conflict of interest there then.

Sports
1. 10 lap race
(lap around the kitchen and playroom)

2. Long jump
(self explanatory)

3. Hop and jump
(invented by Oliver. Same as long jump, except you hop to the line, then jump)

Times are recorded for posterity and, of course, comparison for next year. Watch this space for photos and times....

Spiderella

Pip is combining his two loves here. We are still wearing the dress, although not on Thursdays, as that is football kit day. The obsessions is set to last because he has a deep seated love of dressing up, but more so because people make an incredible fuss of him in the dress. You can see him visibly puff up when people comment on what he's wearing. It rarely fails to go without notice whenever we're out and he's getting used to all the attention.

The dress has two rules. Don't eat in it and don't sleep in it. It's working so far. He often tells me he looks pretty and compares himself to the pictures in his 99p Snow White and Cinderella books. Today he waggled his finger at me and then grabbed my clothes and started pulling them, all the while saying, "You will not go to the ball".

Crikey pikey!

Pip and Mama went on their Monday adventure today. Since Oliver's at school and we no longer meet our lovely friends Fie and Lucas we decided to make Monday adventure day and do something a little different.

With a choice of swimming, cycling or walking, Pip opted for cycling. It proved to be an optimistic choice for him as it was freezing (not quite late enough for the beautiful sun to warm up the earth), windy and Mama's cycling may have left a little to be desired! But if you put aside the constant requests to go home, we had a great time in the adventure playground once bike had been handed back.

But more excitingly, a very kind man stopped us just as we were about to leave the pond to show us his first catch of the day. A 14lb pike. It was "massive" as Pip said. Just look at those teeth. He let us get up, close and personal and then (after weighing and photos) let it go to sulk in the shallow waters while it got its breath back. Quite literally....

Not something you see everyday.
