The waiting finally paid off. After laying low on prodding him for information, after stories tonight we had a little chat before he fell asleep. And that few minutes was as precious as anything. I so love hearing what he has to say in that stream of kiddie-consciousness - what's important to him about his day.
A small dose of what Oliver has done at big school:
- Not opened the door to the outside as adults only are allowed to do that. Or your fingers will get chopped off. (I'm pretty sure Miss Laver didn't use that exact working).
- Sat in the book corner where they have the coloured elephant book (Elmer I think, not some ol' fashioned racist book) and some headphones were you can listen to audio books.
- Played on the computer (I think this is the highlight of his day as mentioned a couple of times in the conversation that Mrs McGinn the TA has put somebody's stuff on the computer chairs when there wasn't enough room for everyone round the tables. He seemed a little put out by it not being his stuff) and drew pictures. 'If you click here Mama and then click there you can draw pictures. Someone drew balls and then the clicked the pencil and drew a proper picture. I didn't do that. Maybe I will do that tomorrow'
- They didn't put out the bikes today but they did put out the tray of sand and 'I buried a truck. I buried it TWICE. Once on the side and once it in the middle.' Nobody found it because only Oliver knew where it was buried. Cunning.
Thank you Ol. It means so much to hear that. I've had a smile on my face all evening thinking you've had so much fun.
